Mandarins in a net and cut hair around a sink drain, washed in hot red, hand-lettered “I hate change but I need to be new”

I Hate Change

This mixed media piece explores the contradiction between resisting change and longing for transformation. The decaying mandarins trapped in a net and the remains of my own hair after cutting it represent different forms of letting go, preservation, and renewal. Accompanied by the phrase “I hate change but need to be new,” the work reflects the discomfort of leaving parts of oneself behind while still yearning for growth.
